Our Team

Dr. A.J. Johnson is the owner/operator of Chelsea Vision Care and practices as a primary care optometrist. He graduated with distinction from the Michigan College of Optometry in 2014. He practices full-scope optometry, which includes diabetic eye exams, glaucoma evaluation and management, pre- and post-operative surgical co-management, and other forms of ocular health evaluations.

While glasses and contact lenses are the staple of his practice, he enjoys educating patients on the health of their eyes to ensure vision is experienced and preserved to the fullest potential.

Dr. Johnson enjoys traveling and golfing with his wife, Dr. Sara, whom he met in optometry school. She gradated in 2015 and completed a specialized residency in ocular disease. He also loves raising his daughter, Elle, to be a golfer and sports fan. Dr. Johnson loves attending sporting events, almost any type of candy, and all things golf.

Dr. Sara graduated from the Michigan College of Optometry with highest distinction. After graduation, she completed an ocular disease residency at the Specialty Eye Institute in Jackson. As an optometrist, Dr. Sara enjoys seeing patients of any age range, but she especially enjoys working with patients who may have glaucoma, macular degeneration or diabetes. 

Dr. Sara married Dr. A.J. in 2017. They met when she was a 1st year student in Optometry school in her hometown of Big Rapids, MI. They like to spend their free time golfing, traveling and raising their daughter, Elle. She is looking forward to meeting new patients and establishing a long career at Jackson Vision and Chelsea Vision Care.

Katie is our office manager. With more than 20 years of experience as an optician, she wears several hats at Chelsea Vision Care. She handles all of the practice financials, verifies insurance benefits, performs diagnostic testing for patients, fits and dispenses glasses, and consults on IT and software management.

Along with all of her responsibilities at the office, Katie has three children at home that keep her busy with school and sports. She is also a lover of history, so she often fills those rare moments of free time reading history books.

Patti is the friendly face you’ll see when you walk in the door. She handles all reception responsibilities including check-in and check-out, scheduling, verifying insurance benefits, and much more.

Patti is the mother to one son and in her free time, she enjoys landscape photography.

Christina joined the Chelsea Vision Care team in the Fall of 2024, and she's been a wonderful addition. She helps patients in the optical: dispensing, adjusting & repairing glasses. She also helps answer phones, communicate with our manufacturing labs and pretest patients when a technician is unavailable. 

 

Kelsey is our ophthalmic technician with over 5 years of experience. She helps with patient flow efficiency in the clinic. She pretests patients prior to their exam with Dr. Johnson, and she plays a vital role in updating patient charts by reviewing medical and ocular history. Should any extra testing become necessary, Kelsey also runs visual fields, takes retinal photos and performs OCT scans.

Outside of the clinic, Kelsey is a wife to her husband Ian and a mother to her two rambunctious boys, Elliot and Liam. She also dabbles a little into the arts like painting and drawing when she finds the time.
